Here at Tai Healing I provide a range of massage services. Because every client is different, you will receive a treatment individually designed for your particular needs. Table treatments are scheduled for 60 or 90 minutes, depending on your own preference. Typically, your session will draw from a variety of techniques, and may incorporate the use of essential oils.
Swedish and Deep Tissue Work
Physical massage methods are the most commonly known, and include Swedish and Deep Tissue work. These methods generally use gliding, kneading, tapping and vibration techniques to stimulate blood flow and to break down adhesions in muscle tissue. Both methods can promote relaxation as well as reducing muscle tension and assisting in the healing process.
This method works primarily on the soles of the feet, applying pressure to particular areas without oil or lotion to affect the various structures of the body. These areas or ‘zones’ are thought to be energetically related, or reflect to, skeletal and organ structures in the rest of the body. Reflexology has been widely used for several thousand years in China and Asia.
Shiatsu is a Japanese word meaning ‘finger pressure’. This is a system of accupressure applied with thumbs, fingers, or palms to specific areas of the body. Various forms have been in use for at least 1000 years, but the modern form was standardized in Japan in the 1940s. Shiatsu promotes relaxation by stimulating the energy channels in the body.
Developed by Dr Stone between 1947 and 1954, this is a system of gentle holds, pressure, and rocking motions that brings together a number of ancient techniques from Chinese and other healing systems.
In chair massage, you sit in a specially designed chair. The treatment is provided without the need to remove clothing; though the removal of jackets and heavy sweaters is recommended. Chair massage treatments can be scheduled at your home, office, or a special event, and are typically provided for groups of clients. The treatment can include the neck, shoulders, back, arms and legs.
Normally, table massage is performed in the massage office; but you can also request a visit at your own home or office if that is more convenient. Additional charges apply to cover travel and set up time.
